We were xbox 360 gamers well before we started this adventure and can remember trying to buy all of the accessories, games and equipment we needed online and being confronted with an impressive list of problems:
- Most of the websites did not have online, credit card ordering, you had to place an order via a form and wait for the company to ring you up to take your details over the phone!
- To buy everything you needed you had to order from eight different websites and two mail order firms...from all over the world!
Quite remarkably, the vast majority of online games stores (pretending for a minute that they are not stuffed full of spam) are still like that! Our mission was to make Xbox 360 Gear the antithesis of that! Xbox 360 Gear was created in order to give people access to everything they needed to achieve an optimum gaming experience.
A tall order you might say - well, that did not concern us. We were to the point of exasperation with trying to access the products and information we needed for our own Xbox 360 gaming- and we were pretty sure there were others like us out there.With almost zero web development skills we knew it was going to be difficult.
However, what we lacked in skills we made up for in commitment and within a few short months the Xbox 360 gear site was visible.We knew we didn't just want to build a shop - we wanted to build a community, somewhere like minded people could come together, learn from each other and push each other on.
